Data Ecosystems Inventory
Data spaces in a nutshell
Europeans generate vast quantities of mobility data every day. However, the current use of this data falls short of its potential to make European mobility safer, more sustainable, and inclusive. Data spaces address these issues. They can provide clear business, legal and governance, technical, and operational frameworks to support data sharing within a data ecosystem whilst ensuring compliance with relevant laws and fair treatment of everyone involved.

NEW POSSIBILITIES
Once in operation, the common European mobility data space paves the way for
- Transport authorities to monitor and plan better
- Freight to be more efficient
- Seamless multimodal mobility
- Optimised vehicle charging
- And more
Mapping what exists
Developing a data space that lives up to the expectations and requirements of all stakeholders is complex. But PrepDSpace4Mobility does not have to start from scratch. Across Europe, various data ecosystems that collect and share mobility and logistics data already exist. Over the last few months, PrepDSpace4Mobility has been busy researching and exploring such ecosystems across the continent to get an extensive overview of the current European landscape.
Click below to discover some examples of mobility and logistics data ecosystems operating in Member States of the European Union.
The map below might not be complete - more data ecosystems and information will be added in the coming months.

Freight and Logistics
Data ecosystems collecting data on freight and logistics transport

Multiple Traffic Modes
Data ecosystems collecting data on multiple transport modes, e.g. any combination of rail, road, air, and maritime

Single Traffic Mode
Data ecosystems collecting data on one specific transport mode, e.g. either rail, road, air, or maritime
MISSING YOU?
Are you a data ecosystem and not yet represented on our map? Or did we get your information wrong? Please contact us, so we can resolve open issues.
Together we can achieve more. And only together we will be able to help initiate a new era of data sharing based on trust, security, and sovereignty.
